Essential Layers of Tango Music with Horacio Godoy

It's an open secret that the unique and complex blend of instruments that typify classic tango music give dancers many ripe opportunities for musical, expressive, and fun dancing.

In this seminar, Maestro Horacio Godoy will expound on the layers of music—the melody, the rhythm, the counter-melody, the links, and the bridges.

This seminar is ideal for both the casual social dancer as well as the expert tango DJ looking to hone their listening skills.

Horacio will provide suggestions for movement and interpretation by social dancers looking to expand their dance repertoire and vocabulary. Horacio will also be providing the cultural and historical context for many of the tango songs played that lead to better, more expressive, more sense-focused, more genuine, more “conscious” tango dancing.

About Horacio

Horacio “Pebete” Godoy may be one of the most influential and renowned figures in tango today. He’s filled every tango role possible: from performing in multiple tango companies, to his role as an internationally sought DJ and tango music expert, to being a guest maestro, judge, and consultant at festivals and mundials in over 40 countries. To many, he is best known for his unique, expressive, and iconic tango dancing (his dancing has been described as “elevating and down to earth at the same time”), as well as being the organizer of one of the largest tango schools and milongas in Buenos Aires—the infamous La Viruta.
