Balance in the Embrace

Explore how the embrace can improve balance, clarity, and communication with your partner. We’ll work with simple connection exercises and begin playing with different qualities of tone in the music.

7:15-8:30pm

Small Figure/Big Dynamics

Using a simple figure, we’ll explore how the same movement can feel completely different depending on timing, tone, embrace, and musical intention. We’ll play with close and open embrace, and how to make a familiar pattern feel more expressive without making it more complicated.

Timing and Texture: Dancing Between the Beats

Explore how timing creates texture in tango. We’ll work with different walking rhythms, slow transfers of weight, collection versus trailing free leg, and simple ways followers can use musical space for free-leg play and embellishment - all while staying connected to the partner and the phrase.

7:30-8:45pm

Turning with the Music: Molinete, Rhythm & Melody

We’ll use the molinete to explore how turning movements can respond to different layers of the music. After reviewing the basic mechanics and timing, we’ll play with dancing more rhythmically versus more melodically, so the turn becomes less automatic and more musical.
